What a night…everything went as planned the suitcase where 98% ready and all combined 2 kilogram to heavy but we figured that Emily would get that resolved with being her normal self and saying hello or something.
We finished the the wine, beer and chips before we went to bed around midnight until Emily woke us, ok I’ll be honest, woke her mama for the first time at 1:00am. The third time at 2:09am I woke up too and went to her room and she started coughing weird and before I knew it I was 110% awake and tried to catch her vomit.
She vomited in her bed but wanted to continue sleeping in it…not a good plan and so she ended up in our bed. At 3:00am when we were finally a sleep she vomited one more time, but this time she showed that she is becoming a big girl quickly. She woke me up with force and determination (that’s necessary) wanted to go to the toilet and vomited there. Unbelievable…I had never expected this as it’s only the 3rd time I’m her young life that she experienced this, you can imagine how proud we were. Besides that we were also worried about the next 15 hours until we would be home.
After this second time she climbed into our bed and fell a sleep right away. As usual we didn’t get a lot of sleep as Emily used up about 3/4 of the Californian King side bed but at least she got sleep.
In the morning everything seemed to be fine and she was busy with emptying the suitcase we just packed, very helpful. At 9:15am we were ready to leave to SIXT to return our rental car where we arrived at 10am, I’m missing that car already.
The shuttle was already there to bring us to the terminal and a half our later we dropped of our suitcases. Emily did what she was supposed to do and the steward looked at the scale shook his head but waived the additional fee while he was having fun with her.
Next stop security, went very smooth. Although the additional check in food items is a bit over the top and it just slows everything down. From there we went to The Club @ MCO to spent another 2 hours until our boarding would start.
When we came to the gate there were additional security measures with an additional TSA check, very annoying at first but in the end I believe it made the boarding process go smoother. No one dared to start lining up to early which is a big issue at MCO as 2/3 of the people travel with children and block the whole area.
The flight was easy Emily slept before we left the gate for about 1,5 hours and I slept for about an hour during the flight. The remainder of the flight Emily was busy with colouring, watching Cars and Elena of Avalor. At 4:15pm we landed and from there everything went reasonably fast.
Danielle got us coffee for the way home while Emily started loading the suitcases in the car! And yes it is cold here only 6 degrees Celcius… After short detour to get milk for Emily at the Supermarket we arrived home at 6:15am. The same time as our dinner ordered through just–eat.ca got delivered.
After dinner we started unpacking and now Emily is in bed and we are winding down from this crazy day. Tomorrow everything is back to normal when I go back to work and Danielle does her usual things again…
But what a vacation, the cruise was amazing, the Townhouse was great, the visits to the parks where superb and the weather was as good as it can be this time of the year. I wished we could stay there forever….
Finally vacation!!! We were looking forward to this since early September.
Yesterday I checked in online, we were really surprised that it worked with Emily as a lap child. At 5:59 we rolled of our drive way towards Pearson International Airport (YYZ), the drive was quick, parking too, lines at the counters were long…
The line up for the check-in assistance (travelling with an infant) our flight was at least 1,5 hours. But Emily smiled at one of the Air Canada agents and we were told to go to a different counter, just 15 minutes later we were all done and walking towards security and the US customs. Everything was difference compared to the last time we traveled towards the USA, I would say it is an improvement.
At the customs office both our hearts skipped a beat…they could not find our ESTA’s (visa waiver program for the US). For sure we have them and they are valid while without them they can deny you entree to the USA. After a couple minutes the officer found them…we put the wrong information in our travel profile…we should have submitted that our Dutch passport (from the Dutch consulate in Munich) were issued by Canada! Yeah right, but everything was fine and we were allowed to enter the USA. A bit later on we found out that that wasn’t the only mistake in our profile and I’m sure Air Canada has messed something up!
After playing about for about an hour it was time to board the plane, seat 21H and 21K right beside the window. Emily was wonderful during the pretty bumpy flight, no cry at all and she slept for about an hour until a stewardess woke us up to ask if we would like to buy food! Why? You don’t wake me up for free food too…
That was the moment where I decided that it would be awesome to go say Mickey “Hello!” Emily agreed mama wasn’t so sure yet but we could at least exchange here Annual Pass certificate for the real thing.
I’m not sure if Emily slept before I turned the car key to start the engine or after but she was out. She continued sleeping even when we stopped at the EPCOT parking lot, she must have been really tired. But lucky as I am before mama came back with her brand new pass Emily woke up…
The first stop was Mouseketeers, a pretty big shop where we got some right sized Disney merch for Emily, and some new shirts for mama. Oh and not to forget the 5-minutes Christmas stories book!
When we exited the store it rained and we decided to go back after we got ourselves a drink at the Fountain View (in Park Starbucks). While waiting for our drinks the rain got really bad and the wait for Mickey, Goofy and Minnie got less. I guess our choice was obvious…the wait was a little bit to long for Emily but she managed pretty well!
She was not shy, maybe a little bit afraid? But every time the meet was over she wanted to go back to them!
After the meets we went back to the car, ok our way to the villa we stopped at the Walgreens for some necessities before heading to our Dream Villa!
We’ve explored the place and Emily found a ton of things to do which she isn’t allowed like kissing power outlets, open drawers and such!
Enily is already dreaming and we are about to follow as it was a long day! We can’t wait till tomorrow where we meet friends from Germany (living in the USA).
This is way to early was my first thought today, the alarm went of at 5:00am and we planned to leave the Villa by 6:15am. First we took the sheets from our bed before we took a shower and woke up Emily a bit earlier as usual. This actually felt like payback because of yesterday…
But she was already waiting for us with her eyes wide open and with the biggest smile on her face. If she could jump I think she would have jumped right in to our arms. As soon as Emily was out of her crib I dismantled it and put it back where we found it. The last things were taken care of and at 6:10am we left our home from the last 4 weeks behind.
In only 35 minutes we arrived at SIXT to return the car and within 15 minutes we walked towards the Air Canada check-inn desks. Just because you can’t check-in online when you travel with a child. And off course we were too early because the check-in desk didn’t open until 25 minutes later. But at least we were second in line and that’s a good thing when you travel with Air Canada and depart from MCO. At 8:15 we made it to the gate and we found a place to sit.
While I went for coffee Mama and Emily waited with our carry-on luggage and the royal stroller.
The flight was delayed by an hour but it still felt like only a short wait before the boarding started and we got in the plane quick. Instead of 10:35 we took off at 11:45. The flight was nothing special, although Emily made it interesting. She was bored of the sitting around so I decided to walk around and she found it most interesting to smile at the flight attendants. Just before we started our decent we went back to our seat and found Mama with her eyes closed. But Emily knew how to wake up Mama, just giggle a little bit.
After we landed at 2:10pm everything went fast. We got out ofthe plane at 2:30pm. Mama and Emily went inside because it was to cold in the air bridge (outside it was -4 Celcius). The royal stroller came upstairs as No. 5 which isn’t bad out of about 15 people waiting. From there we needed to take one elevator upstairs and one downstairs to get to customs. Here it was really busy with Canadians and US Citizens but there was no line, I repeat no line at the international customs. We got our paperwork done and took another elevator to the bagage claim area. Within 2 minutes the first from our 4 suitcases rolled on the belt. And within a another 2 minutes we had them all together.
The only thing which was missing was the car seat but it was already waiting for us in the oversized bagage area. After we grabbed it our pre-arranged SUV was waiting for us to bring us home over a surprisingly empty road. While riding home Emily listened to the limousine driver and she fell a sleep two blocks before we arrived at home. At 3:30 we were waiting for the last elevator of this trip to our home on the 38th floor.
When we opened the door Emily woke up and had really surprised look on her face, I think somehow she recognized it but it also came unexpected. But pretty quick she was playing with her toys and it was like nothing had happened!
Normally the first thing you do is drop your stuff and sit at the couch, or maybe change a diaper when you have a baby but our house was a total mess! We finally got a new floor after we had water damage in June last year…
So my first priority was get all our electronics hooked up again because Mama missed the Hue lights, I missed the SONOS and we both missed to lightning fast internet from at home at the end of the trip.
But now everything is on it’s place again and we’ve started unpacking our suitcases.
