Day 15: Visiting friends…

More than 6 years ago, on our second Florida vacation, Glenn introduced to a real American Thanksgiving. Back than we still wrote our blog in Dutch (sorry)  but this is what we wrote after that day Dag 16: Thanksgiving…

Why would I start a blog like this? Well today we went back to Richy and Denise to introduce Emily. Our little one behaved really well in the car, she slept he whole 1:40 minutes and during the stops at the gasstation (1,65$/Gallon) and Starbucks.

We arrived around 11 o’clock in Bradenton and the 13 year old dog FDNY (Fidny) wanted to look at Emily right away. We didn’t really figured out that she was barking because she wanted to see the baby too. But after Emily touched her nose everything was fine.

While we were there everything was still the same the blue skies, the weather, the sun, their place, the chats and of course their hospitality!

Soon we had lunch and enjoyed the weather outside. Emily did her best to be part of everything but she got tired and fell a sleep on mama her shoulder while I helped mama eating a cupcake! Mama is not so good at this as Emily as you can see…

Close to the evening we (Emily and I) went out for a walk but she wanted to go back to the house because she cried after we got out of the street until we got back at the house.

Soon it was dinner time and we were lucky because we got the famous and delicious spaghetti & meatballs from chef Richy!

Just after dinner Emily changed in her pajamas and got her final bottle of the day. And that was the cue for us to leave a beautiful and still warm Bradenton behind.

Emily slept before we got on the I-75 (within 5 minutes) and when we got home we put her to bed as if nothing has happened. Let’s hope see sleep till 7:00am like she normally does.

Day 14: Winter in Florida…

No, no, no we didn’t mean the weather. Although at home it was -24 Degrees Celcius (Felt like -35) here in Kissimmee it was 21 Degrees Celcius (Felt 24 Degrees Celcius). I feel sorry for our friends and colleagues…

So what has today to do with winter? We planned to visit the Farmer’s Market in Winter Park. We wanted to do this for a couple years but never took the time but now because we stay here for almost 4 weeks it was a perfect thing to do on a Saturday!

Within 45 minutes we parked our car in the neighborhood and after a couple minutes walking we arrived at the market. The first stall we walked by stopped us for a sample of freshly squeezed juice from oranges which were picked yesterday.

After walking around a bit more we found “Gezellig Cookies” which is a stall/shop which sells fresh stroopwafels made in Florida. Later we added a coffee to it and we walked through Park Avenue where the real shops are located.

Before we left Winter Park Mama needed to get some fresh kettle corn and we all had some fruit. Papa and Mama got orange juice and Emily got her Apricot, Apple and pear mix.

And soon we set the GPS to Downtown Disney to visit Disney Springs. Disney Springs is the new name and it’s changed everywhere except in the TomTom App in the iPhone. In Disney Springs we looked at the new additions but there is still a lot of work being done and it was to crowded. For Emily we bought a classic story book with the most famous Walt Disney Classic stories before we left.

In 20 minutes we got home were Emily went to bed for a nap. We enjoyed an early dinner outside, I love the barbecue! And afterwards I went for a swim where Emily joined me.

Soon it got a bit fresh and because we have a longer car trip planned for tomorrow we decided to sit inside and watch some TV before we went to bed too.
