Day 6: Civitavecchia!

We docked in Civitavecchia early in the morning, as probably not many people have heard of this place it is also known as the Rome port. But since Rome is still roughly a 2 hours drive away we did not leave the ship as all excursions take a full day.

So what did we do? We had a really lazy start. While Danielle took a shower Emily and I went to Cabanas where we ate breakfast in our PJs outside ok the deck. Yes, outside the weather is getting better. Today it was close to 20 degrees Celsius and overcast, a whole lot better as the rain from Naples.

After we were done eating we explored deck 9 and 10 before we walked back and played room service by delivering mama her breakfast.

After a shower for me and a bath for Emily we went to watch the last part of Cars at Funnel Vision while Danielle and I enjoyed a Salted Caramel Coconut Latte.

Next stop was the kids club, we learned how to draw a Mickey Mouse at Pixie Hollow. But Emily was just too tired to hang around and got the choice Oceaneers Lab or back to bed.

She decided to go back to bed. I joined her in the room. Danielle want to the Buena Vista Theatre to watch Aladdin the love action movie. And I might or might not have taken a nap myself before I ordered room service for lunch while watching the first half of Jurassic Parc: Fallen Kingdom.

After the movie was done, Emily was woke up too. She finished her Chocolate Chip cookies in bed before we went to Deck 9 for lunch for mama. We also tried a Disney Cruise Line Style Dole Whip but this was rather disappointing.

The weather was still great but we wanted to participate in some activities inside. After a long debate we brought Emily to the Oceaneers Club, she played in Pixie Hollow with an iPad and according the staff she also did some arts & crafts but Emily denied that ever happened.

While Emily was playing Danielle and I joined the Disney Trivia game in the Promenade Lounge! We missed question 1 as we were late but we still won, I would have never believed we would ever win one as there is always a couple US specific question related to the 80s and early 90s about Disney Channel which we just don’t know the answer to. But this time apparently no one knew.

After the Medal Ceremony, ok we almost got them thrown at us, we went upstairs to pick up Emily to get back to our room and get dressed as pirates. For the very first time we decided to be really part of pirate night, a themed evening which happens on the ship one time per cruise.

We rushed to the first character spot which started at 4:15pm with Goofy. Emily was having a blast, they were both on the ground looking through her autograph book.

After Goofy we were in mince for Captain Hook & Mr. Smee. That meet almost went wrong, Emily called Mr. Smee Captain Smee which Captain Hook didn’t like and that ended up in a very heated discussion. But Emily showed Hook her necklace which distracted him from almost strangling Smee. But know he wanted to take necklace from Emily, but this was not possible as it was to tiny for him and he was to big for it according to Emily. All in all a couple hilarious minutes.

Next up where Minnie Mouse, Chip & Dale. While I waited in line for Captain Jack Sparrow, Danielle and Emily saw Mickey Mouse. And Stitch was roaming through the ship already.

Today we had the international themed dinner in Animators Palat. Danielle went for the Spring roll with jumbo shrimp as appetizer while I had a Argentinian Empanada.

As a main Danielle had the Shrimp Curry and I went for the English Cod. For dessert I had the raspberry Creme brûlée and I forgot what Danielle had.

n

The last thing we did before we want back to our room was taking a picture with Stitch and taking some back drop pictures. Emily loves the posing for these and listens better to the photographers as the adults in our group do.

In our room we sat on our beautiful Navigator’s Verandah while watching the ship leaving the port of Naples.

After Emily was in her bed I watched the last part of Jurassic Parc and some Mickey Mouse shorts before we slept in.

Day 5: Staying on board!

Originally we planned to leave the ship today on an excursion to Pompeï but due to the bad weather we’ve decided to stay on board.

We start the morning of slowly with a coffee from Cove Café and a table service breakfast at Lumiere’s. Servers where great again, one of them made her a napkin mouse which jumped around, Emily loved it.

When we left the restaurant around 10am we found walked into Emily’s new friend, the girl from the UK. They played a while in the atrium before we headed to the open house in the Oceaneers Club. The girls played with iPads and we sat at an arts & crafts table trying to be creative.

Close to noon we went to Deck 9 for a small lunch, Danielle went for fruit, I had some sandwiches and Emily went for chicken tenders which we enjoyed outside in a covered area to not sit in the rain.

Since our schedule was changed today we would be able to see the latest an possibly greatest movie from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Avengers: Endgame (might include a minor spoiler). Since this movie is PG-13 it’s not a family movie. First we brought the little princess to the Oceaneers Lab which had the closed program this afternoon, it wasn’t easy but when I was out of sight the tears stopped and she was watching a movie. We were just in time for the movie and we loved it 3000! Amazing and fitting ending, for us none Marvel comic readers definitely different as expected.

After the movie we went to pick Emily up but she was watching a movie in Andy’s room, it seemed like she enjoyed herself a lot. For that reason we left her in the club while we went to Signals a pool-bar in the adult section on Deck 9. A beer & a cocktail later we went to pick Emily up.

After a quick stop in the room to change Emily’s outfit to something royal we went to Deck 4 for pictures. We started with Minnie in a nice Italian dress, followed by Cinderella, Mickey in an Italian outfit and Tiana. Tiana she visited together with her new friend and they had a very long chat with Tiana.

While walking a way from that meet Emily shouted and “Jetzt essen!!!” For the non-German speaking audience the direct translation is: “Now food!!!”

At Lumiere’s they servers put our tables together and 3 person table became a table with 8 people of which 3 kids are German speaking 3-year olds. Emily loved it.

I asked our amazing team of servers to ensure dinner was done by 7:45 as we wanted to meet with Daisy at that time and although I ordered 2 appetizers (deep fried brie, escargots), 1,5 main (Seared tuna, rack of lamb) and 2 desserts (Grand Marnier Soufflé, apple tatin) and Danielle went for a double appetizer (iced jumbo shrimps and lobster, deep fried brie) 1 main course (baked salmon) and 1 dessert (Creme Brûlée) they made it happen.

After dinner we made pictures with Daisy & Donald Duck in their Italian outfit. But in between we had 2 other one with Princess Sofia, this was the most special one so far. Emily was so excited she was jumping up and down. A couple pictures and what felt like 10 hugs later we went back to our cabin. And we met with Joy from Inside Out in D-Lounge.

After the meet with Donald we called it a day and we walked back to our room.

At 10pm everyone was in bed and only minutes later everyone was sound a sleep due to the rocking of the ship.
