Our Family life...

Day 8: Castaway…

After a rough night, mama and I woke up early. Mainly because Danielle was planning on running the Castaway 5k, a 5 Kilometer run over Disney’s private island, for which she needed to be present in the Walt Disney Theatre at 8am.

I arrived at the theatre shortly before 8am and there was already a line to get in. In the theatre I met with Joanna who was also going to run the 5K, GirlPower! Unfortunately it took a while before we got an all clear to get of the ship. But after an explanation of the route we set foot on Castaway Cay around 9am. After a walk to the start we took of. It was already warm outside which made the running a lot harder but after 40 minutes I finished and received my medal!

Shortly after 8am Emily woke up an our prep time started. Papa took a shower while Emily had the morning of her life watching Sofia the First! After I got ready it was Emily’s turn, most difficult part was getting the perfect ponytail, mission accomplished and we were of to Cabana’s the on board buffet restaurant.

As soon as we were seated with a plate for Emily she said “Ah Oh”, she still had her pacifier in her mouth and that is only allowed in the room! Then the said “Papa Eetie” I still didn’t had a plate for me, crew came to the rescue as one of them entertained Emily I rushed to get something on a plate. When I came back I got a loud “yeah” from Emily and we could start eating.

After a while she asked “Mama zoek?”, which means “Mama lost?” or “Let’s go find Mama”. First stop the room as Emily needed to bring her pacifier back, that went surprisingly easy as she put it on the cabinet she started laughing about it and ran back into the hallway saying “bye speen, mama zoek” meaning “bye pacifier, let’s go find mama”.

We left the ship and stepped onto Castaway Cay at 9am, here we waited a couple minutes as Captain Hook and Mr. Smee were coming on land for a meet & greet.

Next stop was the Post Office where Daisy Duck was taking pictures with guests. Emily loved her shoes.

Next was the obligatory picture with the ship and after that we were lucky enough to find 2 spots on the tram which was about to leave. Next stop was ours and here we found a wagon to transport our stuff & Emily in. Although not for long as she wanted to pull the wagon herself…

But not even 10 steps away we found Minnie Mouse & Goofy taking pictures in their bathing suits. After that was done we found a nice spot on the family beach where we waited for Mama, Joanna, Danny and Elin for a nice day at the beach.

Not long after playing in the sand I thought it was a great idea to see mama finishing the 5k but when we arrived the first distraction was Olaf from Frozen. After the picture we decided to go swimming with Olaf, but the other people in line for a picture didn’t seem to like that… and so we decided to wait at the finish line but after a couple minutes Emily wanted to go back to the beach.

While walking back mama texted that she was taking a picture with Mickey Mouse, a short sprint with Emily on my arm made that we were just in time for a beautiful picture. Next stop was the beach and as soon as Elin went into the water Emily followed.

We had a lot of fun with the GoPro, Rocks, Splashing, Swimming and getting our pictures taken. Until it was almost time for lunch.

After lunch Emily wanted to go back to the room as she wanted “naar bed”. Unfortunately for her (and us) it took a while waiting for the tram and in line to get back on the ship. But as soon as we were in the room Emily got a nice warm bath and after she had her PJs on she slept in less then a minute.

Mama started packing the suitcases as today was our last day on board of the ship and the suitcases needed to be packed and outside our state room before 10:30pm. While mama was doing that I enjoyed the ship a bit making sure I’m not in her way. For the first stop was the AquaDuck, and who do I meet on the stairs? Danny & Elin…it’s a small ship after all.

At 3:30pm I was back in the room because Emily got a special invitation from the character manager. At 4:15pm we needed to be standing outside of the D-Lounge for a special event. Lucky for us she could bring her family too.

The special event was a special meet & greet with Mickey, Minnie, Pluto, Goofy, Donald, Daisy, Chip & Dale in their Halloween outfits. I tried to catch it on video but I can tell you Emily was excited, she didn’t knew where to look. But Pluto seemed to be her special friend…and he wasn’t even wearing shoes! When Isaac asked who her favourite was she shouted out “Minnie” and he asked her to say “Hi” one more time. And Minnie was lucky as she got at least 5 kisses and a couple hugs before she said bye.

Later in the atrium we met them again together with Belle, Cinderella and Tiana. Unfortunately Emily was still tired and couldn’t handle that much excitement. We decided to wander through the shops and take one last photo with Minnie before it was time for our last dinner on the ship. It took place in Royal Court.

After dinner was finished Emily wanted to go to bed again and she walked hand in hand with Joanna (Joey) and Elin (Enin) to the Aft elevators. On Deck 11 we said goodbye and Emily gave Elin a couple hugs and Joanna a high five, I think she understood that our ways would separate from are there.

While we finished the last packing of the suitcases Emily got ready for bed with reading her story book twice. Out loud and very detailed for the stories involving Dory, Ariel, Chip (from Beauty & the Beast), Cars with the stars Auto (Lightning McQueen) , Mate(r) & Sally.

I got to,see the last show on the ship. The show was ok, the worst part was that it recapped what I didn’t see. Those costumes of Believe & Aladdin where beautiful! Another reason to come back…

After picking up the photos it was time for our last night on board of the Disney Fantasy…

Day 7: The second sea day…

Emily’s late night shopping adventure had a slight impact on her as she slept till almost 9am. Ok, the clock was set an our forward too but still…

Right out of bed we went for a walk to Deck 3 where we took a picture with a Daisy Duck. Emily gave a hug and a couple kisses.

Since mama and papa knew that Princess Sofia the First was going to meet at the balcony on Deck 4 that was our next stop. Lucky for us we got to be the last ones in line for a meet & greet with Minnie Mouse in her princess dress and again Emily gave kisses and hugs…

Then it was time to line-up for Sofia the First. Emily had a blast, she showed her Sofia doll to Sofia and she was impressed. Next item of interest was her amulet to everyone’s surprise she pointed at it and said Elena…that Amulet is where Elena was stuck in for many years in the series. Very surprising that she remembered this.

For 10am we had tickets for Anna & Elsa from Frozen. The line wasn’t too long and within 15 minutes we were on our way to brunch in the Royal Court. We ordered fruit, pancakes (Emily), royal eggs benedict (mama) and a three-egg omelet (I) but after a short time Emily said that she wanted to go to bed.

I went back the room and Daniëlle explored the ship. She got a free hanger from Sophia Fiori and got her picture taken with Woody.

To relax a bit she went to Cove Cafe to enjoy another delicious coffee. All that while Emily and I were taken a necessary nap. On her way back to the cabin she brought us cookies!!!

After both Emily and I woke up it was time to head to the nursery for Emily’s last stay in It’s a Small World. Every time it got easier to hand her over the terrific staff there and today’s she barely cried.

While Emily was there Danielle and I went to the Pandora Bracelet building after which we, off course, ended up buying 2 more beads one from the cruise line and one with Dumbo.

Then we decided to get our towel folding skills upgraded in the Tube. We are now able to fold a Scorpion, a Swan and a elephant. We failed miserably at the Monkey so I guess we need at least one more cruise to get that skill!

After the folding we stayed in The Tube for a Disney Movie Music Trivia! And we didn’t do bad at all, we ended up with we points easily in the top 10. But we missed knowledge on some Disney Channel songs we had never heard before.

We had some time left to take a picture with Stitch, I love this little alien! And then it was time to get dressed for semi-formal night and to pick up Emily from the nursery. But Emily was still a sleep and so we needed to come back later.

About 15 minutes later she was awake and I picked up her while Mama was waiting to get in line for a photo with Captain Mickey Mouse. Since Mickey was dressed up in his formal clothes we wanted to put Emily in a dress, that wasn’t easy…but I managed to get it done.

After Mickey we went on to meet Chip & Dale. They were dressed up nice in their tuxedos. Many kisses and hugs later we got on our way downstairs to the Enchanted Garden, tonight’s restaurant. Emily wanted to colour and thus we went down a bit early.

Emily had Cod fish, green beans and jade rice for dinner. She liked the rice so much that we needed to order a second portion. Mama and Papa both got marinated tiger shrimps as appetizer. I got a second appetizer, the Prosciutto! Our main was the lobster tail. As dessert I went for the chocolate lava cake and the apple pie, Emily got strawberries and mama had a cheesecake or something like that.

After dinner Emily grabbed Elin her hand and they walked together to the Preludes. Here their ways split as Elin went shopping and Emily waited in line to get a picture with Pluto.

At the Pumpkin Tree show they found each other again, they watched the show together. Emily was fascinated by the lights and the chanting of the kids and in the end she loved the Mickey Mouse shaped confetti which fell down from the ceiling.

For Emily this meant bedtime, again she told everyone she saw that she was going “naar bed” and after her usual bed story she was ready to sleep. Mama left to see “Disney’s Believe” as I waited patiently for the premier at sea of the newest Marvel Movie “Thor: Ragnarok” at 10:30pm!

We, Danny and I, were lucky enough to have 2 seats in the Buena Vista Theatre which showed the movie in 3D. It was a bit difficult to stay awake after such a eventful week but the movie was great, amazing experience to see a brand new movie at sea.

Now it’s time to get some sleep as tomorrow morning Daniëlle will be running the Castaway 5k and Emily and I are in our own… I’ve got some nice plans in store for us!
