Our Family life...

Surprise, surprise…!!!

Sander and I are together since March 2003 and last week we celebrated our 10th anniversary.

Because of this anniversary I bought a couple of gifts for Sander from Hugo Boss and Tommy Hilfiger but Sander went really crazy!!

He surprised me by telling me that he had booked a flight to New York city for the both of us for my birthday. Which means I am going to celebrate my 29th birthday in New York City. I can not discribe here how happy I am with this.

Last year we already visited New York to attend Gina and Glenn’s wedding so we have already visited a couple of tourist attractions in New York City. But this time we are staying a whole week in the Big Apple and I am sure we are going to experience a lot of cool things in the city Sander and I like so much.

The most important thing was of course booking a flight but we also need a place to stay while we are there. Last year we stayed 3 nights at Times Square at the Crowne Plaza hotel. We like this hotel that much that for this trip we wanted a similar hotel also in the Times Square area. But that is easier said than done. After a couple of night searching the internet and unsuccesful bidding on Priceline we decided to book the Crowe Plaza hotel again but this time directly by Priority Club because we are Platinum Member there this year.

Today we also booked a 7-day New York Pass which give you free acces to a lot of attractions in New York City such as Top of the Rock, Empire State Building Observation Deck, lots of different musea like the Guggenheim Museum, Museum of Modern Art, American Museum of Natural History but it also gives you the opportunity to participate in different Tours like the Food on Foot Tour, the Grand Central Terminal Audio Tour, the Brooklyn Bridge and DUMBO neighborhood tour and it is even possible to rent bikes for free and experience NYC by bike.

Since there are a lot of things we want to do or see we already started to make a sort of plan for the whole week. Did I already told you that I am excited and that I can not wait till we are finally there?

Movie Collection…

When we moved together in 2006 we got our first flatscreen which made it worth watching moveis at home instead of in the cinema. First we rented a lot but soon we started collecting them.

When we left the Netherlands back in 2008 we had about 200 DVDs in our collection. In hte beginning of our time here in Germany we didn’t add a lot of movies to our collections because we didn’t liked the DVDs/Blu-rays here in Germany since there was no closed captioning and in most cases the title of the movies are different as the original title.

But the world-wide web helped us out and we started ordering movies from bol.com and freerecordshop.nl. And in addition we visit the Dutch Mediamarkt every time we visit our home country. This all results in 738 DVDs and Blu-Rays.

Since we want to have them organized we bought special cabinets form the IKEA called BENNO. Lately they were almost full which menat we needed to add a couple, since this week we have 15 BENNOs at our place.

There should be place for another 582 movies in our collection…
